“How I Work” is one of my favorite recurring features in Inc Magazine as well as via Lifehacker’s This Is How I Work Series, and recently several sales experts (including  Anthony IannarinoDave Brock and Trish Bertuzzi) participated as well.

Periodically moving forward, we will feature a new B2B sales, marketing or business leader here answering what have become the standard “How I Work” questions.  You can catch up on everyone we’ve featured thus far in the “How I Work” series here.

This week I’m thrilled to feature Brenna Lofquist, Marketing Consultant for Heinz Marketing.  Brenna helps many of our clients develop and implement integrated, multi-channel demand generation and lead management programs that drive predictable pipelines.  She’s a key contributor to what makes our culture so unique and exciting as well.

Here, in her own words, is how she works.

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Work: Any Microsoft Office product, we use Sharepoint for team files and internal marketing. Slack, LinkedIn, Outlook, Spotify

Life :The typical social media platforms (Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc.), Spotify, Venmo, and currently ESPN Fantasy for my fantasy football league

What’s your workspace like? For the most part it’s clean and minimal. I always have at least a notepad and notebook somewhere on my desk, usually under the stand for my laptop. Other than that, you’ll always find a water bottle, coffee mug and my Heinz Marketing football helmet.

What’s your best time-saving shortcut or lifehack? Nothing in particular but being prepared ahead of time whenever possible. I realize how much time I save in the morning if I make my lunch and breakfast the night before, it makes my routine in the morning easier and quick.

What everyday thing are you better at than anybody else? I’d say having a positive attitude or having a smile on my face. It takes a lot to alter my mood and I’d like to think I bring some light to the people that I am around most.

What’s your favorite to-do list manager? I have tried to use some list tools but have yet to find one that will stick. I always revert back to writing it down, there’s still a sense of accomplishment when you can check something off your list. I watched an interesting course on Skillshare by Mike Vardy called Productivity Habits that Stick: Using Time Theming where he walks you through a better process of using a pen and paper to make your to-do lists. While I can’t say I have implemented everything in this video, it’s helpful if you are looking for new ideas to keep track of your to-do items.

What do you listen to while at work? I often listen to a variety of things while working, all via Spotify. If I am trying to write I will listen to the Deep Focus playlist, other than that it depends on my mood. Anything from Acoustic EDM or Chill Tracks to Country. I always listen fairly quietly so I can hear if people are talking to me or to avoid getting crept up on by a coworker.

What are you currently reading?  The Good Girl by Mary Kubica. It’s a great book, although it’s taken me awhile to read it. I go in spurts of reading a lot to not reading for a couple months.

What’s your sleep routine like? I am normally in my bed anywhere between 9-10 and usually watch part of a show or read my book before actually going to sleep, I like to have some time to myself even if I am just watching TV. I like with three other girls, so some peace and quiet is always needed. Up by 5:15am for a workout otherwise 6:30am.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? It will be okay! Super simple but something my parents always told me growing up and still to this day. I have always been a very caring person towards friends, family, and anyone pretty much but when I feel like I’ve let someone down or done something wrong it hits me hard. I always come back to this quote because no matter what, at the end of the day everything will be okay, the world isn’t ending (for the most part) and people will get over things. Don’t be so hard on yourself!
