“How I Work” is one of my favorite recurring features in Inc Magazine as well as via Lifehacker’s This Is How I Work Series, and recently several sales experts (including  Anthony IannarinoDave Brock and Trish Bertuzzi) participated as well.

Periodically moving forward, we will feature a new B2B sales, marketing or business leader here answering what have become the standard “How I Work” questions.  You can catch up on everyone we’ve featured thus far in the “How I Work” series here.

This week I’m excited to feature Katie Walvatne, Chief Experience Officer for thinkspace in Seattle.  A high-energy professional and power networker in the Puget Sound area, Katie balances time at work with teaching cycling classes and training for triathlons.

Here in her own words is how she does it.

Location: Redmond / Seattle

Current computers: Macbook Pro

Current mobile devices: iPhone 6S (soon to be 7 or 8 or 9… who knows!)

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Work: Evernote, Slack, Gmail, Gchat, Google Docs/ TinyPulse, LinkedIn, Angel List, Meetup, Trello, Docusign

Personal: LifeSum, Venmo, Uber, NPR news, Google Maps, Spotify, Runkeeper, Shazam

What’s your workspace like? Well it is essentially your workplace! 🙂 At thinkspace we house and support over 600 startups and small businesses by providing them with physical office space and other services. That being said, I am constantly in a fast pace and moving environment. No time to sit still! I thrive in an environment when I have a fresh view to look at, music playing, and a planned out calendar and To Do list for the day!

What’s your best time-saving shortcut or life-hack? Morning pages! It is basically a brain dump every morning before I get the day started.

What everyday thing are you better at than anybody else? I think I am great at bringing positive energy into a room and to a team. I get every day started with morning pages, a great workout and a walk with my dog. By the time I get to the office I am pumped up and ready to take on any challenge the day has to throw at me. My friends most often describe me as gregarious and I seem to quote Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother almost every day when saying, “challenge accepted!”

What’s your favorite to-do list manager? I use Trello and Evernote the most. Although if we are talking more personal lists I use Wunderlist!

What do you listen to while at work? Spotify! I love a good playlist in the background while I am cranking on work. I usually listen to whatever playlists I have made for some of my cycling classes.

What are you currently reading? “The Rules Do Not Apply” by Ariel Levy

What’s your sleep routine like? I need my sleep. My alarm usually goes off at 4:15am to get up to teach a cycle class and I am usually in bed by 9:30pm! By that time my body is ready to rest so I crash hard.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? To always be learning. I don’t think there is any limit to how much each of us can actually learn and being surrounded by entrepreneurs every day keeps me on my toes. I am constantly trying to absorb information and hear different perspective.
