I get a lot of really bad prospecting emails. Every once in awhile, i get a good one.
Last week, I may have received the best prospecting email of the year.
It’s from someone I actually know and have met before, who wants to do more copywriting for us. I haven’t engaged with her much.
The subject line was this: Content for Heinz + Pizza in Seattle
I am already intrigued.
The first two sentences referenced a couple obscure but personally highly interesting insights. I’m already engaged.
The kicker, and perhaps the best prospecting tactic of the year, was her P.S.:
P.S. This sounds crazy, but I’m obsessed with pizza. I’m going to be visiting Seattle in September and would like any and all pizza recommendations your team has to offer.
I have no idea if she’s actually coming to Seattle in September. But what a smart way to engage prospects in a much more fun and engaging conversation.
She wants to talk about copywriting, but is willing to talk about pizza first.
