A couple months ago I appointed Sheena to be general manager of Heinz Marketing’s Thank You Department. The job is simple – keep an eye out for all things big and small for which we should be thankful.
This includes things employees do for each other, things we notice from our vendors, partners, landlord, suppliers and more.
Sometimes we respond with thank you notes. Sometimes small token gifts. Most of the time a simple written or verbal “thanks” is all that is necessary.
The Thank You Department, at its essence, is about capture and response. Capturing the instances we’re thankful for and ensuring those who did the deed know we are thankful and appreciative.
It’s work worth doing, richly rewarding and gratifying. It’s also nearly free.
