Having spent 100% of my time studying the SalesTech market for the past 8 years, you can imagine how excited I am to be the one to launch the world’s first comprehensive benchmark study to track SalesTech usage trends over time.
The timing happens to work perfectly considering that the first ever Sales Enablement Society Conference is convening in Dallas at the end of this month. If you are a Sales Enablement professional, you have to get involved in this non-profit association. It’s a grass-roots organization with chapters popping up all over the world. The website offers a community portal to engage in discussions with your fellow Sales Enablement practitioners. I’m learning from others and am looking forward to meeting people in person at the event.
Of course, Sales Enablement leaders aren’t the only ones involved in SalesTech purchases. So are Sales, Sales Ops, Marketing, and Marketing Ops leaders. For our survey, it’s important that we get a good cross-section of each so we can benchmark over time.
Why a SalesTech Benchmark Survey?
The past five years have seen rapid growth in MarTech with the number of MarTech applications rising from 350 in 2012 to more than 5 ,000 in 2017. Today, our very own SalesTech Landscape of 2017 pins the number of SalesTech applications at 450 (not including CRM). Does that mean we’ll have more than 5,000 in 2022? Perhaps more important than the number of apps is how organizations are using and adding SalesTech over time.
We’ll be tracking how companies of different sizes, industries, sales-cycles, and sales models develop their sales stack over time. Since it’s a benchmark study, we can immediately begin to understand and categorize the use of SalesTech by those filters. Preliminary findings will be available by the time of the conference, with a final report expected in mid-November.
